Summary:A process for the treatment of contaminated water comprises sending the contaminated water to a treatment system. The system comprises at least one adsorption (3) unit and at least one nano-filtration unit (7). The at least one adsorption (3) unit includes at least one microporous or mesoporous alumino-silicate and the at least one nano-filtration unit (7) includes at least one hydrophilic nano-filtration membrane. The hydrophilic nano-filtration membrane has a contact angle with water lower than or equal to 45°. The water is contaminated by polar and/or apolar organic compounds, and/or by heavy metal salts, and/or by oil dispersed or in emulsion.
