Summary:A retractable tube 8 for use in a respiratory apparatus for delivering a pressurized flow of breathable gas to a patient has the following properties: internal diameter <= 30 mm weight per unit length <= 500 g/m unextended length <= 2 m. The tube includes a portion 6 that is extensible in a range of 40% to 400% of its unextended length in response to a force applied to the tube. The extensible portion is configured to return the tube to its unextended length in the absence of force, or reduced force, applied to the tube.
