Summary: | A number of floral determined cell specific MADS box promoters from rye-grass (Lolium perenne) are described, together with expression cassettes including such promoters for use in expression of desired genes in floral determined cells. Applications of such expression cassettes and promoters are described, including the specific expression of lethal genes or antisense constructs to inhibit flowering. This may be used to increase the forage value of grasses, or to prevent seeding of plants. Methods of modifying plants to contain such cassettes are also described, as well as transformed plants and cell lines. |
