Summary: | Disclosed are compositions and methods for releasing nucleic acid molecules from solid matrices. The disclosure further relates to compositions and methods for purifying and isolating nucleic acid molecules from biological materials such as animal tissues and plant matter. The methods of the disclosure can be readily adapted for rapid processing of multiple samples. Thus, the disclosure further provides automated methods for the purification of nucleic acid molecules from numerous samples. The disclosure also relates to kits for removing nucleic acid molecules from solid matrices. The methods relate to the use of a releasing reagent comprising one or more alkanoyl amines such as an ethanolamine. The solid matrix may be a cellulose based matrix or micromesh synthetic plastic matrix, and may comprise a week base, a chelating agent and an anionic surfactant or an anionic detergent and may further comprise uric acid or a urate salt. |
