Summary:The invention relates to a protein of Helicobacter pylori in a substantially purified form, susceptible of being obtained from a membrane fraction of Helicobacter pylori and of which the molecular weight after electrophoresis on polyacrylamide gel 10 % in the presence of SDS is approximately of 76 kD. Also claimed is a polypeptide derived by mutation or fragmentation from the above protein, a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention of a H. pylori infection, monospecific antibody capable of recognizing a protein above, and a diagnostic method which makes it possible to detect the presence of Helicobacter in a biological sample.
