Summary: | A transgenic plant material which comprises at least one immunogenic agent selected from the group consisting of E. coli enterotoxin (LT) antigens and cholera (CT) antigens. The immunogenic agent when synthesized further comprises at least one specific cellular localization retention sequence (ER retention sequence). The immunogenic agent is at a concentration within the transgenic plant material that is enhanced compared to the concentration of an immunogenic agent synthesized in a transgenic plant without comprising a specific cellular localization retention sequence. The transgenic plant material also comprises a DNA sequence encoding at least one immunogenic agent selected from the group consisting of E. coli enterotoxin (LT) antigens and cholera (CT) antigens, wherein the DNA sequence further comprises at least one sequence encoding at least one specific cellular localization retention sequence that concentrates the immunogenic agent within the transgenic plant material. The transgenic plant material is capable of inducing an antibody response in animals after oral ingestion of the immunogenic agent. |
