Summary: | A cosmetic or pharmaceutical preparation for topical administration which comprises a low-fat or fat-free carrier together with a recombinant human Cu,Zn-SOD (rhSOD) in unilamellar liposomes. The liposomes have an average diameter of 200 nm or less and the rhSOD is present in a concentration of 0.01 to 5% by weight. The composition is capable of penetrating the tissue and treating pathological conditions that are caused by increased concentrations of superoxide radicals and/or the damage caused thereby. Such diseases include rheumatic joint inflammation, osteoarthritis, emphysema, bronchitis, ARDS and other similar diseases. |
