Summary:In prodn. of foam blocks, foam mixture (13) is supplied from a mixing head (2) onto a moving lower film (4) while an upper film (8) is guided by a diverter (10) into contact with the foam mixture (13). The diverter (10) is flat and creates a constant rectangular cross-section channel between upper (8) and lower (4) films. Channel length (L) is a multiple of mean channel ht (Hm. Channel ht (He at entry is adjusted to a fixed dimension while the channel outlet ht (Ha) is controlled in response to the foam pressure on the diverter (10). Process plant includes a mixing head (2) guides for lower (4) and upper (8) films and a long, flat diverter plate (10) for parallel alignment of the upper film (8) with the lower (4) film and creation of the rectangular channel. The inlet end of the diverter (10) has an adjuster (11) to vary inlet ht (He) and swivels on an axle (17) at right angle to the flow direction. A compensating system 12,15,16) applies variable force to the outlet end of the diverter (10) to counteract swivelling movement and maintains a parallel channel.
