The nut (200, 300) comprises a body (210, 310) having a bore (212, 312); and a locking element (218, 318) with a threaded portion (220, 320). The body (210, 310) has first and second ends (214, 216, 314, 316). The body (210, 310) includes a tapered contact surface (222, 322) which tapers outwardly from the first end (214, 314) towards the second end (216, 316). An assembly incorporating the locking nut is also described.
