Summary:Azo dyes of the formula in which   R and R are each hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl or C1-C4-alkoxy,   R is hydrogen or C1-C8-alkyl which is optionally substituted by hydroxyl and can be interrupted by 1 to 3 oxygen atoms,   R is C1-C8-alkyl which is optionally substituted by hydroxyl and can be interrupted by 1 to 3 oxygen atoms, and   X is cyano or optionally substituted C1-C8-alkoxycarbonyl, with the proviso that at least one hydroxyalkyl radical is present in the molecule, mineral oils containing one or more of the novel dyes, and the use of the novel dyes for labelling mineral oils.
