Summary: | A catalyst composition for converting syngas into dimethyl ether comprises co-precipitated Cu, Zn and Al components, preferably as their oxides, in amounts such that Al/(Cu+Zn) is not less than 0.1 and Cu/Zn is 0.2 to 5.0, and an acidic dehydrating component, preferably gamma-alumina. Syngas is converted into dimethyl ether over this catalyst at 250 to 400 DEG C, and the aged catalyst can be oxidatively regenerated at 250 to 540 DEG C. |
