Summary:The system has a detector (5) associated with each cable element or group of elements which triggers an alarm or causes the mfg. process to be interrupted if the monitored element or group is missing or exhibits a fault. Each of the detectors (5) can be manually moved from its normal monitoring position into an inoperative position when the associated element or group is not required to be included, with automatic return into the monitoring position when the element or group is to be incorporated. Pref. each detector (5) is associated with a disconnection element (4,6) movable between two positions (4a,4b) for moving the detector (5) between the monitoring position and the inoperative position. The disconnection element (4,6) is automatically reset to move the detector (5) into the monitoring position upon insertion of the element or group.
