Summary: | The window with high fire-resistance has heat-sensitive glazing bars (8) covering the internal edges of a silica glass pane (1). The glazing bars are destroyed by heat, thus, avoiding differential temps. between the edges and the main body of the pane (1). This reduces the likelihood of the pane cracking under differential temp. stresses. The edges of the pane may be housed in a composite 'U' section (3,4,5,8) of which the internal leg constitutes the heat sensitive glazing bar. The bar may be of celluloid or aluminium and may be fixed (9) by heat-sensitive adhesive or brazing. The brazing may have a low fusion point i. e. between 100 and 180 deg.C. |
