Summary: | 1323699 Clarifying titanium sulphate solutions DOW CHEMICAL CO 30 Sept 1970 [5 Nov 1969] 54285/69 Heading C1A Black liquors, obtained by the extraction of titanium ores with sulphuric acid, are clarified by addition of a water soluble cationic polymer flocculant having monomer units thus:- where R1 is H or CH 3 and R 1 and R 2 are alkyl groups. The polymer is prepared by reacting an acrylamide polymer, a secondary amine, and formaldehyde and is added to the black liquor rapidly and to a region of high shear. |
