Summary:A compound polymer modified bentonite barrier material as well as a preparation method and application of the compound polymer modified bentonite barrier material are disclosed. The compound polymer modified bentonite barrier material may possess an extremely low hydraulic conductivity exposed to heavy metals, organic matters or compound pollution solutions with the concentration below 500 mmol/L. The hydraulic conductivity may reduce by 100 times, compared with that of a traditional barrier material. The compound polymer modified bentonite barrier material could be applied to a vertical cutoff wall, a liner, or a Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) at abandoned landfills and industrial sites and the like. The containment performance of the barrier system under compound contaminated soil and groundwater is greatly improved.
