Summary:The invention is directed to a process to continuously enrich a methane and carbon dioxide comprising feed gas in methane comprising the following steps, 5 (i) counter-currently contacting the feed gas with an aqueous solution having a pH of above 7 to obtain a loaded aqueous solution comprising dissolved carbon dioxide, (ii) contacting the loaded aqueous solution having a pH of above 7.5 with an electron charged packed bed comprising of a carrier and a biofilm of 10 microorganisms under anaerobic conditions wherein carbon dioxide is converted to methane and using the resultant aqueous solution in step (i) as the aqueous solution having a pH of above 7.5, and (iii) separating part the carbon dioxide which is present in the gas comprising less carbon dioxide and partly enriched in methane as obtained in step (i) to 15 obtain a gas enriched in methane.
