The invention relates to a device for rolling back silage cover material at a silage storage location with silage (6) covered at least partly by silage cover material (7) and having a silage retrieval face, said device comprising an elongated frame (1) suitable for being positioned on top of the silage cover material (7) in a working position near the silage retrieval face, said frame (1) being provided with at least one combination of a first driveable cylindrical roll element (2) extending in the longitudinal direction of the frame (1) and connectable to the silage cover material (7) for rolling up the silage cover material (7) and a second cylindrical roll element (3) extending substantially parallel to the first driveable cylindrical roll element (2) for guiding and pressing down the silage cover material (7), the first roll element (2) being disposed on the frame (1) such that, in the working position, it is positioned at a distance above the silage (6). In this way, an efficient and practical device is realized. The frame (1) with roll elements (2, 3) offers several advantages. The weight of the frame (1) contributes to pressing and holding down the silage cover material (7). The first roll element(s) (2) for rolling up the silage cover material (7) can be positioned above the silage (6), which results in less friction during the rolling up process and easier handling of the rolled up silage cover material (7).
