The present invention relates to a knitting system for a flat knitting machine, which includes a left base (1) and a right base (2); two sets of head slide rail assemblies are symmetrically arranged between the left base (1) and the right base (2) in a front- back direction, a front head assembly (4) is arranged on the front head slide rail assembly (3), and a rear head assembly (5) is arranged on a rear head slide rail assembly (3); the rear head assembly (5) is connected with an independent driving device (6) to reciprocate horizontally; the front head assembly (4) is connected with the rear head assembly (5) through a head connecting device (7) and includes a needle lifting cam (11), a middle cam (12), a stitching cam (13), a density cam (14), a separation cam (15), an upper fixing cam (16), an elastic band cam (17) and a yarn shearing control cam (18); and the rear head assembly (5) includes a separation cam (15), a needle lifting cam (11), a middle cam (12), a density cam (14), an upper fixing cam (16), an elastic band cam (17) and a yarn shearing control cam (18). The knitting system is simpler in structure and stable in operation; the load is small; the energy consumption is greatly reduced; the work efficiency is greatly improved; the maintain and test are easy and convenient; and the economic benefits of enterprises are greatly increased.
