Summary: | A wastewater treatment process for ammonia removal using the bacteria Ochrobactrum intermedium and Bacillus subtilis immobilised in the chitosan coated calcium alginate bacteria beads comprising the step of biotreating wastewater influent for 5-8 hours in a bioreactor. The wastewater treatment process may further comprising the step of pre-cultivation of the chitosan coated calcium alginate bacteria beads in the wastewater influent for 6-12 hours. The wastewater treatment process may be carried out under optimised parameters wherein the bioreactor is replenished with 65-75 %v/v fresh wastewater influent; supplemented with carbon source every 2-4 hour(s); aerated with air pump; and maintained at a temperature of 30-40 ?C. |
