Summary:[0038] The present invention provides a trapping device being in communication with a base station comprising: a housing (100); an insect luring substance (10) disposed within said housing; a high voltage kill/stun element (40A) connected to a high voltage kill/stun module (40) configured to excite the high voltage element once a targeted insect is detected; at least one type of sensor (110) to detect the presence of an insect; a processing unit (200) controlling and managing the operational elements of the device. The processing unit further comprises: at least one insect detection module (15) in communication with the sensor for detecting the presence of the insect, identifying the insect species; a power supply and power management module (20) for handling all aspects of power supply related to the device; a fail-safe module (25) configured for providing mishandling protection to users and to the device; a radio frequency (RF) module (30) configured for communicating all data related to the insect and device to a base station; high voltage kill/stun module (40); and user interface module (50). In a preferred embodiment, the power supply and power management module is configured such that it regulates the power supply to effectively disable or kill the insect without destroying the biological footprint of said insect; and all data collected by the base station is communicated to a central server for storage, monitoring and further analysis.
