Summary:In an atomizing nozzle (1) that uses a spray medium to expel a liquid fuel and burn it, a spray fluid (2) and a spray medium (3) are made to join at a first joining part (91) to form mixed fluids (8) in the atomizing nozzle. The mixed fluids (8) pass through mixed fluid flow paths (9) and (10), and flows of the mixed fluids (8) facing each other to strike against each other at a second joining part ( 92) in the vicinity of an outlet (11) and are expelled from the outlet (11). The cross sectional areas of the mixed fluid flow paths (9) and (10) are narrowed in the vicinity of the outlet (11) to increase the flow speeds of the mixed fluids (8) and thereby facilitate conversion of a spray of the mixed fluids (8) to fine particles. According to this atomizing nozzle, combustion reaction is hastened, reducing unburned fuel, particulate matter, and carbon monoxide at the outlet of the combustion apparatus, so combustion efficiency can be increased. Since combustion reaction is hastened, more oxygen is consumed. This makes it possible to suppress generation of nitrogen oxides.
