Provided is a water-soluble anticorrosive paint composition and a method of preventing corrosion comprising applying the water- soluble anticorrosive paint composition. The water-soluble anticorrosive paint composition comprises: an epoxy resin emulsion (i) as a base component; an amine resin emulsion (ii) as a curing agent; and a zinc powder (iii) and/or a phosphate-based antirust pigment (iv), wherein the zinc powder (iii) has a bulk specific gravity of not lower than 1.0 as measured by a gravity-drop method, a mass ratio of the zinc powder (iii) to a total solid matter is not lower than 65% by mass, a mass ratio of the zinc powder (iii) and the phosphate-based anti-rust pigment (iv) to the total solid matter ranges from 65% by mass to 95% by mass, and a mass ratio of the zinc powder (iii) to the phosphate-based anti-rust pigment (iv) ranges from 100/0 to 70/30.
