Summary: | Carbide is procuded inexpensively from shredded or pulverized fibrous biomass as a raw material without prooducing a granulated material. In a method for producing carbide including drying fibrous biomass that is an empty fruit bunch generated during a process of producing a palm oil, adjusting the particle size thereof, molding the fibrous biomass under heat and pressure to produce a hollow cylindrical molded article, and carbonizing the molded article, a distance between blades in a direction normal to the blade faces of first and second screws of a screw extruder is set to 10 times or more of the longest length of screen openings. The shortest distance between the end of the first screw blade and a raw material storage portion side wall that is opposite to the end of the blade is set to 5 times or less of the longest length of the screen openings. |
