Provided are compounds having the formula: wherein: R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, a hetero-aliphatic group, an aromatic group, and a heterocyclic group, provided that R1 and R2 may together form a divalent radical selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic radical and hetero-aliphatic group; each R3 is independently selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic group, a hetero-aliphatic group, an aromatic group, and a heterocyclic group; R4 is selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic group, a hetero-aliphatic group, an aromatic group, and a heterocyclic group; and n is an integer from 0 to 5. Also provided are polymerizable compositions containing such compounds and a method of coating a substrate which uses such polymerizable compositions.
