The cavity is shaped to form a railcar coupler knuckle and includes a first wall that forms the substantially vertical outside wall of the tail of the knuckle. The core includes a kidney section (50) with a rear core sup¬ port section (156) that extends at least 0.5" outside the first wall of the cavity when the core is set in the drag. Un ensamble de núcleo para crear espacios interiores en un nudillo acoplador de vagones de ferrocarril está diseñado para estar colocado en una cavidad con secciones de molde superior e inferior; la cavidad está diseñada para formar un nudillo acoplador de vagones de ferrocarril e incluye una primera pared que forma la pared exterior sustancialmente vertical de la cola del nudillo; el núcleo incluye una sección de riñón (50) con una sección de soporte de núcleo trasero que se extiende por lo menos 1.27 cm (0.5") fuera de la primera pared de la cavidad cuando el núcleo está colocado en el arrastre.
