The present invention refers to a process for the preparation of a micro emulsion based on a surfactant, co-surfactant and brine, in defined ratios. This process comprises the following steps: mixing; mixing sequence; agitation; resting time and application in heavy hydrocarbons. This micro emulsion reduces the viscosity of the heavy and extra heavy hydrocarbon, which facilitates the transport thereof. La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento para la preparación de una microemulsión formulada a base de surfactante, cosurfactante y salmuera, en proporciones definidas. Este procedimiento comprende los pasos de: Mezclado; Secuencia de mezclado; Agitación; Tiempo de reposo y Aplicación en hidrocarburos pesados. Esta microemulsión permite la reducción de la viscosidad de hidrocarburos pesados y extrapesados, lo cual facilita su transporte.
