La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para preparar el 3,3,3-trifluoropropeno (1243zf), el proceso comprende poner en contacto un compuesto de la fórmula CX3CH2CH2X o CX3CH=CH2, con el fluoruro de hidrógeno (HF) en la presencia de un catalizador de cinc/cromia, en donde cada X independientemente es F, Cl, Br o I, siempre que en el compuesto de la fórmula CX3CH=CH2, al menos un X no sea F.
