Summary:Provided herein are modified tomato plants comprising an introduced modification of genomic DNA at the SlFSR gene or a transcription regulatory region thereof. In some instances, the introduced modification is heritable. In some instances, the introduced modification is an epigenetic such as hypermethylation. Also provided are progeny plants produced from the modified tomato plants, tomato seeds and tomato fruit produced by the modified tomato plants or progeny plants. Also provided are methods of making and growing the modified tomato plant and obtaining modified tomato fruit as well as nucleic acid reagents useful in the methods. En el presente documento se proporcionan plantas de tomate modificadas que comprenden una modificación introducida del ADN genómico en el gen SlFSR o una región reguladora de la transcripción del mismo. En algunos casos, la modificación introducida es hereditaria. En algunos casos, la modificación introducida es una epigenética como la hipermetilación. También se proporcionan plantas de progenie producidas a partir de plantas de tomate modificadas, semillas de tomate y frutos de tomate producidos por las plantas de tomate modificadas o plantas de progenie. También se proporcionan métodos para producir y cultivar la planta de tomate modificada y obtener frutos de tomate modificados, así como reactivos de ácido nucleico útiles en los métodos.
