The present disclosure generally relates to aqueous suspensions comprising very slightly water soluble or water-insoluble magnesium compounds such as magnesium oxide and/or magnesium hydroxide, in particular for use in prolonging the shelf life of agricultural food products, such as fruit and vegetables and for protecting harvested produce from decay by fungal infections. La presente divulgación se refiere en general a suspensiones acuosas que comprenden compuestos de magnesio muy poco solubles en agua o insolubles en agua, como óxido de magnesio y/o hidróxido de magnesio, en particular para prolongar la vida de anaquel de productos alimenticios agrícolas, como frutas y verduras, y para proteger los productos cosechados de la descomposición por infecciones fúngicas.
