The invention relates to a roof rack (3) for a motor vehicle (1), having at least one roof rail (5) and at least one fastening device (11) for fastening the ends of the roof rail (5) on a roof (2) of the motor vehicle (1), wherein the fastening device (11) has a fastening element (12), which is in the form of an extruded part, and a cover (13), which at least partially accommodates the fastening element (12). Provision is made here for that side of the fastening element (12) which is directed away from the roof rail (5) to bear against the cover (13). The invention also relates to a motor vehicle (1) with a roof (2) and a roof rack (3) fastened on the roof (2), and also to a method for mounting a roof rack (3) on a roof of a motor vehicle (1). La presente invención se relaciona con una barandilla de techo (3) para un vehículo automotor (1) teniendo al menos una barra de barandilla (5) y al menos un módulo de fijación (11) para la fijación en el extremo de la barra de barandilla (5) en un techo (2) del vehículo automotor (1), el módulo de fijación (11) comprendiendo un elemento de fijación (12) presente como parte de extrusión y una cubierta (13) que aloja al menos por regiones al elemento de fijación (12). Se prevé para esto que el elemento de fijación (12) se apoye en su lado orientado en dirección opuesta a la barra de barandilla (5) en la cubierta (13).
