Summary: | The present invention relates to the modification of a polymer of the type poly (styrene-co-allyl alcohol) with groups, sulfonic and its application as an inhibitor of incrustations in aqueous systems, thereby causing corrosion and blocking the ducts thereof. The chemical substances used as inlays inhibitors commonly are molecules or water-soluble polymers containing various functional groups like the phosphonates, carboxylates, and sulfonates. In addition, polymers are stable at high temperatures and effective inhibitors of fouling in a water cooling system. The polymer modified with groups sulfonic of the present invention is a biodegradable material, unlike the phosphonates polymer, commonly used as inhibitors. Further, it is useful in industrial processes with heat transfer on a surface, primarily in boilers, cooling systems, and heat exchangers, thus avoiding decreasing the heat transfer.
