The invention relates to a compound of formula (I), where R is selected from a methyl group or an ethyl group (I), the hydroxy acid forms of said compound, the pharmaceutically acceptable salts of said hydroxy acids, and pharmaceutically acceptable prodrugs and solvates of said compounds and of the hydroxy acid forms thereof; and the use thereof in the prevention or the treatment of neurodegenerative or neurological diseases, cognitive impairment, diseases associated with changes in APP metabolism, inflammation or inflammatory processes, or epilepsy, epileptic fits and seizures. Se describe un compuesto de fórmula (I), donde R se selecciona entre grupo metilo o un grupo etilo: (ver Fórmula) sus formas hidroxiácidas, las sales farmacéuticamente aceptables de dichos hidroxiácidos y prodrogas y solvatos farmacéuticamente aceptables de dichos compuestos y de sus formas hidroxiácidas, y su uso en la prevención o el tratamiento de: enfermedades neurodegenerativas o neurológicas, deterioro cognitivo, enfermedades con alteraciones del metabolismo del APP, inflamación o procesos inflamatorios, o epilepsia, crisis epilépticas y convulsiones.
