Summary:The present invention describes the use of propylparaben, a widely known antimicrobial, for decreasing neuronal injury induced by Status epilepticus. An objective of the invention is the administration of propylparaben immediately after the occurrence of Status epilepticus to prevent neuronal injury and the possible development of epileptogenesis, as well the neurocognitive disorders associated with this condition.
