Summary:A process for preparing sodium salts or potassium salts of 4-hydroxy-2-oxo-2,5-dihydrofuran-3-carboxylate, comprising the reaction of a malonic ester with potassium hydroxide to give the corresponding malonic ester potassium salt of the formula (III), which is then reacted further with a chloroacetic ester to give a compound of the formula (V), followed by a ring closure reaction in which the compound of the formula (V) is reacted with a sodium alkoxide or potassium alkoxide of the formula ZOR1, where R1, R2, R3 and K are each as defined in the description. Procedimiento para preparar sales de sodio o potasio de ésteres 4-hidroxi-2-oxo-2,5-dihidrofurano-3-carboxílicos que comprende la reacción de un éster malónico con hidróxido potásico dando la sal de potasio correspondiente del éster malónico de fórmula (III) (Ver Formula) que luego se hace reaccionar adicionalmente con un éster cloroacético dando un compuesto de fórmula (V) (Ver Formula) seguido de una reacción de cierre de anillo en la que el compuesto de fórmula (V) se hace reaccionar con un alcóxido de sodio o potasio de fórmula ZOR1 en la que R1, R2, R3 y K son cada uno como se definen en la descripción.
