Summary:The invention relates to an additive intended to provide an end coating with biocidal properties, UV protection, flame-retardant properties and, in general, selected properties inherent to metals and compounds comprising Ag, Au, Cu, Mg, Zn, Bi, Sb, said additive including the use of solvents, surfactants, dispersants and resins rendering same compatible with the end coating. The additive-containing coating guarantees perfect distribution and dispersion of the nanoparticles throughout same, without said nanoparticles having to be bonded to an inorganic substrate. The additive production method uses existing nanoparticles of the aforementioned compounds and metals, which may be in aqueous, organic or dry powder media and which are subjected to a treatment enabling same to be integrated into coatings used in a wide range of environmental conditions. The method can be used to obtain a variety of functionalised additives.
