Summary: | Invention relates to the field of diagnostic methods of tendency to rheumatism and methods for forecasting progress of the disease. The method provides for possibility to predict tendency to rheumatism during three months period after being ill with sore throat, scarlatina or acute respiratory diseases, especially in presence of A type beta-haemolytic streptococci. The method comprises genetic analysis of DNA extracted from blood cells. Five specific HLA-II alleles are determined. Presence of one or more "risk alleles" indicates strong possibility to develop rheumatism within three months' period after having above mentioned diseases. Presence of one of "protective alleles" within four remaining determined alleles allows to predict favourable progress of the disease. |
