Summary:Powdery copolymers of ethylene and C3-6 olefins having particular physical properties are prepared by polymerization in a fluidized bed of materializing copolymer in the presence of an organometallic compound of a Group II or III metal and a catalyst component formed by reacting at -20 to 150 DEG C (i) an alkoxide, halide or alkoxyhalide of quadrivalent titanium, (ii) an alkyl halide and (iii) (a) an alkyl Grignard reagent, (b) a magnesium dialkyl or (c) metallic magnesium, where all the alkyl and alkoxy groups are C1-8 groups and all the halogens are chlorine or bromine, in certain molecular proportions depending on the nature of component (iii).
