N-substituted amide derivatives represented by the formula wherein A is -CH(OH)- or -C(=O)-, R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and R is an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms are useful for prevention and therapy for liver diseases.
