Summary:PURPOSE:To eliminate the occurrence of failure of returning a card by installing a conveying driving unit for making a card conveying force for outputting a card greater than a card conveying force for inputting a card and a take-in unit for conveying a card while correcting the card unless its deformation exceed a constant level. CONSTITUTION:When a card 3 is inserted from an insertion port 4, sensors 5 and 6 detect the card 3. Then, a driving roller 8 rotates, and a normal card 3 is taken in a card handling machine by the driving roller 8 and a driven roller 8'. A deformed card 3 is corrected by a correctable card take-in gate 9 until a predetermined amount of deformation is corrected, and if a card conveying load exceeds a predetermined value, a card conveying force for conveying a card 3 is not generated between rollers 8 and 8'. That is, a friction force generated between the card take-in gate 9 and card 3 becomes greater than a driving force for conveying card 3 due to deformation of card 3, the roller 8 slips and card 3 is not taken in the card handier.
