Milbemycin D half-esters of dibasic acids of formula HOOC-R-COOH (wherein R represents a straight chain alkylene group, a vinylene group or an omicron -phenylene group, which may optionally have an alkyl substituent) and their salts have valuable acaricidal, anthelmintic and insecticidal activities. They may be formulated as compositions for agricultural, horticultural, pharmaceutical or veterinary use and may be used for the treatment of animals and plants infected with helminths, acarids and insects. The compounds may be prepared by reacting milbemycin D with said dibasic acid or functional equivalent thereof, one of the carboxy groups in said acid or equivalent being optionally protected. Salts may be prepared by conventional salification reactions.
