PROCESS FOR PREPARING ALDEHYDE

Aldehydes are prepd. by reacting C2-12 aliphatic olefins with CO and H2 in the liq. phase in the presence of water, Rh in metallic form or as a cpd. and a water soluble salt of a sulphonated or carboxylated triarylphosphone, the pH of the liq. phase being 5.5-6.2, esp. 5.8- 6.0. Pref. the pH of the...

Pref. the pH of the aq. phase is adjusted by addn. of an inorganic acid. Anacid salt of a polyvalent inorganic acid, a water soluble organic acid or a buffer mixt. By conducting the reaction at the pH indicated, higher conversions are obtd.
