Summary: | Wettable fibers or fine filaments are prepd. from a compsn. comprising an olefin polymer, i.e. a linear low density polyethylene(LLOPE) and blends or alloys of LLDPE with other olefin polymers, having an incorporated wetting agent. The wetting agent comprises at least one of ; (a) an alkoxylated alkylphenol(I) in combination with a mixed mono-, di- and/or triglyceride(II), (b) a polyoxyalkylene fatty acid (III), or (c) a combination of (b) and any or all pts. of (a). (I) pref. has the formula(Ia) where R= C1-20 alkyl, n=10-55. (II) pref. has the formula (IIa) where OR1,OR2 and OR3 are, independently, hydroxyl or fatty acid ester gps. (III) pref. has the formula R-(CH2CH2O)n-CH2CH2OH where R=fatty acid ester gp., n=10-55. |
