Summary:A multi-speed bicycle transmission is located at the drive pedal hub and includes a drive-pedal actuable shifting assembly for effecting gear changes in response to the limited reverse rotation of the drive pedal shaft at a pair of predetermined locations in the path of their rotative displacement. The drive-pedal responsive shifting assembly includes a skidable collar on the drive pedal shaft, having two pairs of selectively contoured cams that are engaged by radially displaceable shift pins extending into the pedal hub. This effects longitudinal displacement of the collar on the collar on the drive pedal shaft, and results in an accompanying shifting the gears.
