Summary: | Electron tube has a glass bulb with a stem of glass carrying an electron gun assembly sealed to the bulb so that the gun assembly is accommodated in the bulb. The seal is effected through a metallic ring of material having a thermal expansion coefficient close to that of the glass of the bulb and stem. Heating is achieved during sealing by the induction from coil to fuse the glass coating on ring to the stem and bulb. Subsequently ohmic heating coil is used to anneal the seal. Used particularly in the mfr. of a colour cathode ray tube. |
