Summary:Foamable burn resistant silicone compsn. comprises (a) 100pts.wt. of base vinyl-contg. polymer of formula(I) (R,R'=1-8C alkyl, aryl, vinyl, 3-8C fluoroalkyl; the polymer contains 0.002-3 wt.% vinyl; X is such that viscosity rises from 10 to 105CP at 250oC), (b) 1-10 pts. wt. of a silanol-contg. silicone of viscosity 10-103 CP at 25oC, the org. gp. being as for R and R' and such that silanol content is 2-10%, (c)0-200 pts. wt of a filler, (d) 1-50 pts.wt. of hydride polymer of formula(II) (R2=H, 1-8C alkyl, aryl or 3-8 C fluoroalkyl; R3=1-8C alkyl, aryl, 3-8 C fluoroalkyl; the H content is 0.3-1.6 wt. %; Z is such that viscosity is 5-100CP at 250 deg.C where there is also at least 1 mole of SiH per mole of silanol), and (e) 1-250ppm.of a solubilised pt catalyst.
