Summary:The transporter for cylindrical steel articles such as steel pipes(40) uses inclined skid rails(21). It is arranged to have a magnetic braking device including electromagnetic coils for controlling the rolling speeds of the articles to be transported. The electromagnetic coils are comprised of a main magnetic rail(21) and a pair of outer pole(22a)(22b) to minimise a magnetic path for the magnetic fluxes developed by the dlectromagnetic coils(27) and are also arranged in the shell type manner to prevent the electromagnetic coils from being externally damaged.
