(해결 수단) 제1 보호층, 편광자, 제2 보호층 및 위상자를 이 순으로 구비하는 광학 적층체로서, 편광자는, 이색성 색소가 흡착 배향되어 있는 두께 15㎛ 이하의 폴리비닐알코올계 수지 필름이며, 제2 보호층의 온도 85℃에서의 인장 탄성률을 E2[㎫], 두께를 T2[㎛]로 할 때, 식(ⅰ): E2 × T2 ≤ 16000을 충족시키는 광학 적층체, 및 상기 광학 적층체를 포함하는 화상 표시 장치가 제공된다. Provided are: an optical laminate provided with a first protective layer, a polarizing plate, a second protective layer, and a phase element in this order, the polarizing plate being a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin film having a thickness of 15 [mu] m or less and having a dichroic dye adsorbed thereon and oriented, a second protective layer, and a phase element in this order; when the tensile modulus of elasticity at 85 DEG C of the second protective layer is E2 [MPa] and the thickness is T2 [[mu] m], formula (i): E2 * T2 < = 16000 is satisfied.
