Disclosed are an electronic device and a method for controlling the same. According to the present disclosure, the control method comprises the steps of: analyzing at least one image acquired using the optical zoom of a camera to identify at least one object and obtain information about the at least one object; identifying a first object corresponding to a target object based on information about at least one object while an image provided through a camera is displayed on a display; displaying a UI for moving the camera so that the first object is located in a preset area of the display screen; and enlarging the first object and displaying it on the display when the first object is located in a preset area.
