The present invention relates to a device for operating a tamping stick for blasting that includes an information collection function, and a method thereof. According to the present invention, the device for operating a tamping stick for blasting comprises: a stemming material information collection unit which collects stemming material information including information on the energy and number of compactions applied when charging a stemming material in a blast hole from a sensor built into the tamping stick for blasting; a communication execution unit performing wireless communication with a detonator which is the target of the charge through a communication module built into the tamping stick for blasting; and a blasting time control unit which controls the blasting time based on information on the position of the tamping stick for blasting and detonator information collected from the communication execution unit. 본 발명은 정보 수집 기능을 포함하는 발파용 전색봉을 운용하는 장치 및 그 방법에 관한 것으로, 발파용 전색봉에 내장된 센서로부터 발파공에 전색제 충전 시 가해지는 에너지 및 다짐 횟수 정보를 포함하는 전색제 정보를 수집하는 전색제 정보 수집부, 발파용 전색봉에 내장된 통신 모듈을 통해 장약 대상이 되는 뇌관과 무선 통신을 수행하는 통신 수행부 및 상기 통신 수행부로부터 수집되는 발파용 전색봉 위치 정보와 뇌관 정보를 토대로 발파 시간을 제어하는 발파 시간 제어부를 포함한다.
