The present invention provides a portable device having a touch screen display and a method for controlling the same. According to various embodiments, a method for controlling a portable device including first and second touch displays comprises the operations of: displaying a first page of a home screen on a first touch display and displaying a second page of the home screen on a second touch display; receiving a user input for browsing pages of the home screen when the first page of the home screen is displayed on the first touch display, and the second page of the home screen is displayed on the second display; and replacing the first page of the home screen with the second page of the home screen on the first touch display, and replacing the second page of the home screen with a third page of the home screen on the second touch display in response to receiving the user input. The replacing operation includes an operation of sliding and displaying the second and third pages of the home screen in a direction facing the first touch display from the second touch display. In addition, a first part of the second page of the home screen is displayed on the first touch display and a second part of the second page of the home screen is displayed on the second touch display while the second and third pages of the home screen are slid and displayed in a direction facing the first touch display from the second touch display.
